A Day to Remember: Capturing Love at a wedding photographed at the old art building

Nestled in the heart of Leland, Michigan, the Old Art Building stands as a testament to rustic charm and artistic flair. It was here, on the 6th of August, that Ali and Sean chose to celebrate their union, surrounded by the natural beauty of this iconic location. As a Traverse City photographer specializing in wedding photography, I had the honor of capturing the essence of their day, filled with intimate moments, family, and a blend of traditions that made it uniquely theirs.

Natural and Creative: The Old Art Building

The day unfolded under a canopy of green, with trees and plants framing the outdoor ceremony in a natural amphitheater of love and laughter. The Old Art Building, renowned for its years of housing arts and crafts projects, provided a perfect backdrop, marrying the rustic with the romantic. It was in these surroundings that Ali and Sean, surrounded by a multitude of family members, exchanged vows that echoed the depth of their connection.

A moment of peace and joy on Lake Michigan

After the heartfelt ceremony, we took a short walk to the beach across the street. The tranquil waters of Lake Michigan provided a serene counterpoint to the day's festivities. It was here that I captured some of the most candid moments. The beach, with its open skies and gentle waves, offered a moment of peace and reflection for Ali and Sean amidst the day's joyous chaos.

Bagpipe surprise

One of the day's highlights, a surprise for Sean, was the soul-stirring sound of a bagpipe player. This nod to his heritage added a poignant and personal touch to the ceremony, a reminder of roots and the journey that brought them here. These moments, filled with emotional resonance, are what make wedding photography at the Old Art Building in Leland so unique and rewarding.

Reception

The reception, held inside the Old Art Building, was a vibrant mix of dancing, laughter, and celebration. The space's rustic charm was a warm embrace, its walls telling stories of creativity and artistry, a fitting environment for a celebration of love. In these moments, my role as a wedding photographer transformed into that of a storyteller, capturing the unspoken tales of joy and communal happiness.

Sean's impromptu guitar performance was another unforgettable highlight, showcasing his talent and bringing an extra layer of intimacy to the reception. Music and dance have a way of bringing people together, and Sean's performance was a heartwarming example of this universal truth

A moment of peace, with your other

But it was in the quiet moments away from the crowd that the true essence of Ali and Sean’s love shone brightest. Stealing away for their portraits, we found pockets of tranquility where they could pause and breathe in their new life together. These moments of stillness are a profound part of any wedding day, offering a chance for the couple to reflect on their journey and dream of the future. The gentle smiles, the tender glances, and the soft whispers between Ali and Sean were a photographer’s treasure, encapsulating the depth of their bond.
